Horror?

I don't see the point in purposefully scaring yourself. If we are going to watch a horror film, I think we should focus on the elements of horror, and not just watching a horror movie because its "scary."

  1. Ah but scaring oneself is a brilliant reminder of how lucky we really are! To be scared is to be alive! It's a good reality check to make sure one is really living! While I agree we should watch something worth analyzing, we should also allow ourselves to be scared by it...We should open our minds to the ideas it puts in our head. -mwhahahahaha-

  2. Personally when watching a scary movie it isn't all about just being scared. There is a whole aspect of life that film takes in when doing a scary movie. One they can be comedic which just lightens the moods on something so dense. It can also allow you to look into an aspect of life that isn't so pretty. Yes it can be an eye opener and let you realize how lucky we are. But it really shows the the variety of people that are out there in the world. There are people that want to kill people because they have something to prove to there own self or society. It shows that not everything is butterflies and rainbows. The nice thing is that it is on a screen so you really don't have to interact with it, so its not going to hurt you. That one of the great things about scary movies. It allows the director to show an aspect of the world that generally an audience wants nothing to do with. The audience also has an excuse to see the light in this genre and really experience it for what it is.
